Welcome to JC & Paddington 2026

Beautiful Hever Castle once home to Anne Boleyn

Why are we celebrating in 2026?

Well a few milestones have been reached over the last  9 months. In August 2025 we reached our 40th year in New Zealand, then in November Colin hit 70 and in February 2026 we had our 50th wedding anniversary. So we thought it appropriate to celebrate them all together with a special holiday. We are so glad you're here to share our journey, as we explore and travel with Paddington making more memories.

This blog is our way of staying connected with you all especially Paddington's followers, no matter where our travels take us. Expect to find everything from everyday happenings to exciting events and adventure's. Our trip officially kicks off in July 29 2026. Think of this as your front-row seat to our adventure, filled with laughter, discoveries, and maybe a few challenges along the way!

Westminster, Greenwich, Canary Wharf, Covent Garden

What a day over 14000 steps, aside on the river, trains and the tube. 7th heaven for a lover of transport.

Londinium

We finally had a day doing nothing , just relaxing, washing and catching up with John and Claire. THEN we were off again starting with a day sailing up the Thames and a visit to Hampton Court., Chartwell (Winston Curchills home) and Hever Castle

NEW Luggage

Resting in London and I found some new luggage direct from Venice

Our history

From modest beginnings, we've grown through unwavering dedication and a commitment to continuous improvement. Each step has reinforced our core belief in the power of collaboration and the importance of integrity. We're passionate about what we do, and we're excited to share our story with you.

More new friends

What a day, meeting Nicola Josh  and Evie such a thrill having travel all the way to Paris to meet us. Then we were off to Notre_Dam Cathedral, and the Louvre. Found some shade on steps bt the river then  went for a cruise as the eclipse passed over

Our history

OOH LA  LA Paris

Today we played on the underground, went to the Sacre_Coeur, didn't get in again as the que was horrendous. Watched the artists, did some shoping then went to the Tocadero lookout point and walked down to the Tower. Trying to keep in the shade as much as possible.

Munich, hot, interesting and expensive

Forecast was for 32 but seemed warmer. Rode on the underground and trams went to the museum and arete lots of gelato. Colin rested in the shade while Janet went to the Residenz museum. Paris is the next stop.

Final dinner with friends

New Captain on board

Final day in Regensberg and  back to the sip birthed at Passau. Paddington the Captain and his crew then sat in the captains chair for a short sail in the Passau area.

Regensberg

Another day on the bus but it was worth it at this Bavarian medieval city. I didn't want to fall into the river so had a helping hand while on the bridge

Our history

The new bus driver.

Seeing as we are not sailing and on the coach each day it's time to try something new

Bridge of locks Salzburg

Love this city, beautiful, historic, colorful buildings, and lovely gardens just magical

Our history

Lunch at Gottweig Abbey tasting the wine and eating gelato.

August 1 The Cruise begins

Well we had a mixed bag today. Due to the extreme weather river levels being low the boarding procedures were changed and the night Cruise of Budapest was cancelled. So after a long taxi ride we finally boarded and explored the ship, we didn't go out for long, 38 was a bit hot.

A visit to the Opera House

In the city of music, Mozart and Strauss you have to go the Opera House

Vienna

Vienna means, chocolate, good coffee, and cake, music and oppulent buildings.

Schloss Schonbrunn

Schonbrunn Palace the imperial families summer palace, at least it used to be.  Gorgeous place with stunning rooms. Due to a problem at the start of our tour we only had 20 minutes free time to see the gardens and get back the pick up point. Good job really because it was far too hot though to walk around.

Panoramic Budapest

Behind me on my left is the Pest side of the city, full of history in the castle district and up to the Fishermans Bastion both with panoramic views.

Fisherman's Bastion

What can we say about this area it's a monument dedicated to the fisherman that helped protect this part of the city in world War 2. It looks like a fantastic castle with ornate turrets and walk way. Looking g over to the Buda side. I think that is correct.

Memories in the making

Ready to Go

A week to go Paddington has his passport, and his bags are packed, a little early but that doesn't matter. We had to remove the marmalade sandwiches of course but he is happy with the special meal order and is ready to go.

A picture tells a thousand words, and we will have plenty of stories to share. Take a look at some of Paddington's previous photo's in the Photo Gallery
